About Us

The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics of DUT was founded in December 2008. According to the overall layout and planning of DUT discipline development, it is positioned as the "leading unit" of DUT aerospace engineering discipline. The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics adheres to the principles of openness, cooperation, and win-win, and strives to build itself into a training base for elites and talents in the field of aerospace science and technology, a research base for new theories and new methods, and a research and innovation base for new technologies and new products. The school has established the "Liaoning Key Laboratory of Frontier Technology of Aerospace Vehicle", "Joint Technology Center of AVIC-DUT Aircraft Refined Strength Design and Manufacturing" and "Joint Research Center for New Aircraft Thermal Protection of Ministry of Education". At present, tit has 40 teachers, including 15 professors and researchers, 22 associate professors, and 1 lecturer, including 20 doctoral supervisors and 38 master supervisors. In addition, 1 double-appointed academician (honored by two universities) and 12 adjunct professors are currently employed.

The school offers undergraduate program of aircraft design and engineering (selected as a first-class undergraduate education demonstration major in Liaoning Province), and offers a Master's degree in aerospace science and technology of first-level discipline and an interdisciplinary doctoral degree in aerospace system science and engineering. The school can grant a bachelor’s degree in the major of aircraft design and engineering, a Master’s degree in aerospace science and technology (Research), a Master’s degree in aerospace system science and engineering of first-level discipline (research), a master’s degree in mechanics (professional type), a doctor's degree in aerospace system science and engineering (research), and a doctor's degree in mechanics (including full-time and part-time doctor of engineering).

The majors cover three research directions: aerodynamics and propulsion, structure and material, and dynamics and control. More than ten teaching and scientific research laboratories have been built, including: Aerodynamics Laboratory, Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Wind Tunnel Modeling Laboratory, Rocket Engine Testing Laboratory, Space Electric Propulsion Technology Laboratory, Aircraft Structural Mechanics Laboratory, Aircraft Materials and Structure Comprehensive Performance Laboratory, Extreme Environment Material Performance Laboratory, Aircraft Control Technology Laboratory, Aircraft Navigation Guidance and Control Laboratory, Aircraft Simulation Laboratory, Large-scale Space Intelligent Structure Laboratory, etc. The school has provided sound supporting conditions for the cultivation of undergraduate, master and doctoral students.

Since the establishment of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, it has coordinated the work of discipline construction, talent introduction, international exchanges and cooperation, striven to build a virtuous cycle mechanism of "talents drive disciplines, disciplines cultivate talents", realized the overall coordination and sustainable development of teaching and scientific research, and cultivated innovative compound talents for scientific research and engineering application for the development of the national aerospace industry.
